@dj.tigersprout: This is the cool end about 400-600 C other end is 2050 deg C. There is another c 80-100 metres of machine you cant see!
Giant machine !A very good shot between sun and shadow with this man giving a scale!

@Marie-Hélène Ammor: Many thanks... there was two machines... it was a very hot day the heat given off from the machine made it very very hot - I even managed to see inside and take a photo ... though it is not likely to win any awards :-)
Big machine, little man, who's in charge? Makes you wonder who's bigger in the scheme of things in this world.

@james: Many thanks for your comment - the Afghans were in charge - there were a pair of these rotary cement kilns and despite all the troubles they have been able to keep them working - a great achievement!
WOW that is one big machine, not use to seeing those where you are...what does it do? wait I'll go see if anyone else asked? yep got the answer lOL
