Street, Old Kabul

@saeed: Cemeteries occur on all spare open ground - I don't know for certain, but it may date from when battles raged across the city during the civil war.

@kerfendal: Many thanks! Quite a contrast - the dull earthy streets of Kabul with the shiny streets of Paris! At night is is very dark as there is no street lights... and usually no electricity anyway - everyone has to make their own!

@Anouk: Hi Anouk, many thanks for your comment. Yes, its very common to have graves in any open spaces in the street. Each grave usually has a headstone and a footstone. For men the stones run parallel, for women the two stones are inline.
