A very different scene to the usual burning dusty streets. You say it's a British cemetery, this is a German name on the childs headstone.

@Observing: Yes, its called the British Cemetery as its upkeep is funded by the British Embassy. It contains the graves of those British servicemen who fell in the Second Anglo-Afghan War 1878-1880 and of course memorials for those fallen in the present conflict. It also serves as the place of burial for most non-Afghan/non-Muslim who have died in Afghanistan hence many foreign sounding names. In fact there are lots of different nationalities interred - many with very interesting stories - from Danish explorer to Polish geologist.
