Kuchi children

@Lorraine: Its probably kohl - a soot-based eyeliner. Its use is quite common for young children. It does look strange when you first see it!

@Pavla: The girl in green was my first post on aminus3 http://scotfot.aminus3.com/image/2007-12-13.html. It was just one of those chance happenings - we had a puncture miles from anywhere and stopped to change the wheel - I just wandered off with my camera for 10 minutes :-)

@Lorena: Hi Lorena, many thanks for your comment. Kuchi are an Afghan tribe of nomads. Kuchi actually means 'nomad' in pashto - the local language! Because of their nomadic way of life they and their animals suffered badly from landmines and cluster bombs. Its OK, they are not alone - their father and older brother were tending the sheep close by - mother was at home in the tent! A very hard life.
