@Namaki: It was destroyed during the civil war. It was a Northern Alliance area that was destroyed by their enemy, the Taliban as they moved northward. Despit the view of destruction the town is now starting to thrive and is a great place to visit. They have a great microhydro scheme so the town even has electricity.
