I give you as an example to friends that don't particularly "do" portraits, of what they are missing. The expressions you capture are superb. Two questions - How do you get people to pose for you, when they do? Second - I have the same Nikkor lens that you use - and although I like it quite a bit, I never get shots as sharp as you do. Do you shoot raw and then process completely (including sharpening) in Photoshop?
Once again - congratulations, your portraits are magnificent.

@Emilio Garcia: Many thanks for your comments and recommendations to your friends, they are much appreciated. Getting people to pose is not really a problem, most people seem to enjoy having their picture taken and to see the image on the camera! I always shoot raw these days and immediately convert to dng, sometimes shoot with jpeg in parallel. I have noticed a certain softness sometimes with the 18-200VR other times very sharp... hmmm! When putting images on blogs I always process in photshop - a bit of levels and yes a bit of sharpening. I used to use unsharp mask, now, from CS2 I will always use smart sharpen - its brilliant! I also do all my tweaking and resizing and do the sharpening very last. I keep it low, c 10-20%, sometimes a bit more. Radius 1. Hope this helps!
Fabulous light on this one showing those great lines on his face. The angle is just right to show his hooked nose. A bit diffenent ethnic background. Excellent.
