The three shops behind are kite shops. Fighting kites is a great pastime for the boys (and men) serious business!

super street shot. Any pics of the kite flying?

@Rhys: Kite flying - they use fairly small fighting kites and they fly them 1000's of feet - getting kite flyer and kite in the frame is challenging! I'll see what I can find! Bob
So many great elements in this shot!!!

A great scene of street life, even the smoke drifting towards the back is part of the image. Good work .

@Namaki: They were chatting away... probably cracking a joke!
I love everything about this, not just the fine quality of an incredible photograph of life, but the many objects to view and the colours and the ambiance, it's just wonderful!

It's superb :all smiling men ,the woman in blue and the atmosphere and colors of shops with smoke and kites . I just ask if you could remove or cut off the car on the left?

Nice! I like the car, it's a reminder of when we are. And the melons are wonderful.

Great ambiance for this street shot, we are almost there, ready to buy a watermelon !! So much thing to look at... It's just a pity the car on the left, it's remember us that we are in the 21th century....

poverty sometimes speaks similar to this photo.

Great street scene. Do they put broken shards of glass on the kite strings?
15 May 2008 5:39am
@Anita: They most certainly do! They try to manouvre their kite to cut the line of their opponent kites. The released kite becomes a 'free kite' and the first one to get to it when it floats down keeps it! Free kites are much chased after by the boys!
I read about kite fighting in "The Kite Runner."
