Another residential district situated at the foot of TV Hill. It is in a Shia area. Gravemarkers everywhere.

Another great view, there is such a mish-mash of constructions and varied things to observe- is that a plastic picnic table and chairs (centre right) ? Are those stalls selling things? There is a lot to see in this shot.

Wow, this is such stark reality to see as a visual tourist. Imagine living in this every day. I'm wondering if these grave markers are typical, or is this a poor cemetery. I am remembering reading The Kite Runner and the changes the Afganis went through after they were invaded by the Soviets, and when the Taliban took over... plus now the American presence there. The misery index must be off the charts for many.

@Viewfinder: Hi, many thanks for your comments! Yes, the stones are fairly typical though in some places there are more ornate graves, even some with ironwork. The burial grounds are not well defined and burials can be found in many open spaces.
Amazing culture shock, but reality.
