@Lorraine: Nothing was said, communication was non-verbal he shook his head which looks like no, but in Afghanistan means yes. He seemed very content and serene - though he put on a serious face for the camera as Afghans like to do! I can see a suppressed smile in this image!

Interesting details in this portrait. Eyebrows covering his eyes and the facial wringles (sun damage maybe...).
