very nice shot. where is this? ...the only suggestions i have are a little sharpening and the some of the whites feel a tad too bright.

@danthro: Thanks for the comments... I think you are right about the sharpening, though checking the original in Photoshop it does have the edge. Maybe it lost a little in the resizing on upload. The image is looking down from the top of TV Hill in Kabul - well zoomed out!
If you're having problems with losing sharpening in resizing on upload, another aminus3er addressed it on his blog here. Basically, i think the solution is supposed to be to resize to 800 pixels wide before uploading.

@danthro: Hi Danthro, many thanks for this hint, I'll try it out for future images. There are ways of resizing while minimizing sharpness falloff, in Photoshop using bicubic sharp often produces good results.Colour space is another tricky area in converting images for web use! Many thanks.!
so arid and barren…i’m thinking if it is possible to grow there. great cap, Bob

@Graça B.: With tiny amounts of water saved one way or the other from the winter snows much is grown - the grapes are magnificent... as are nuts and any visit to the markets and you will see lots of fruits and vegetables grown locally in Afghanistan, the melons are also magnificent! Papaver somniferum is also grown widely!!
I like your pictures, it reminds me good memories. I used to spend a bit of time in Afghanistan as well. Good job. If I'm right, this one has been taken from the antenna in Kabul, no ?
