The British Cemetery dates back to the 2nd Anglo-Afghan War. British soldiers who died in that campaign are buried here. Later it became the place to bury any non-Afghans who died in Kabul. It was intriguing to see so many nationalities and people of different backgrounds in the one cemetery. A Jesuit rubbing shoulders with junkies (the latter from the 60's hippy trail mostly OD'ng). Whole families who died in traffic accidents, a Danish explorer next to a British Civil Sevant next to a Polish geologist next to a well known 'Digger' from San Francisco - lots of interesting stories within these gates!

@Michael Skorulski: Hi Michael, many thanks to you and all that have commented! I saw the woman walking up the street, so I had a bit of forewarning - I just pointed the camera at the gates and waited until she was in the gap between the writing on the wall and the gate... fingers were crossed that a truck didn't pass at the critical time! This is one of my favourites!
