The newly renovated grain silo. The posts on the left were supports for the trolley bus gantry system. The trolley buses last ran in 1990. As you can see the posts are damaged. The nearer post shows how the shells went straight through leaving perfectly circular holes in the half inch steel plate. One day, they will be restored too!

nice to see the renovated grain silo, but my attention went to the posts damaged. signs of an injured country. very interesting post.

@MGB: Hi MGB, Its very easy to go around taking pictures of the physical war damage as they are dramatic and to most from the west, very different. I was once told off (politely!) by a young Afghan student for taking pictures of war damage and I should take pictures of the new buildings and the progress... interesting! What was difficult to capture was the damage brought by 20 years of fighting to the minds of the people. Bob
