If you are online tomorrow drop by! Bob Lia from Atlanta, United StatesBeautiful shot! Look at this lighting!! Where is this place? 28 Dec 2007 3:40pm @Lia: Hi Lia, thanks for your comment. Its just a few miles east of Kabul city, near Bagrame. Visible on Google Earth 34°29'58.19"N 69°18'38.49"E. Best wishes Bob. Emilio Garcia from Pleasanton, United StatesThe light, the composition and the subject matter are great. What are the structures? Great shot! 28 Dec 2007 5:48pm @Emilio Garcia: Hi Emilio, they are kilns for making bricks. There is a huge amount of reconstruction work in Kabul and a great need for bricks, cement etc. They are not working in the photo, winter, bricks are not much demand as its too cold to build at this time. Many thanks for your comment! Bob bruno from SwedenIv heard that Kabul is one of most intressting cities to photograph. you image makes me belive that it really is so. very nice one 28 Dec 2007 7:21pm @bruno: Hi Bruno, Kabul is a great place for photography, its surrounded by mountains, a tremendous location, there is a mix of old and new buildings some still showing war damage. The people are incredibly friendly and often ask to be photographed especially the children! There are of course security issues and you have to watch out for land mines etc when off the beaten track... and of course having to work gets in the way most of the time! :-) martie from JapanStunning! You are so lucky to be able to capture these moments. 29 Dec 2007 2:31am Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaThat is a stunning shot. What a beautiful part of the world. 1 Jan 2008 7:31pm Anita from West Nottingham, United StatesI lkie how the kilns stand out against the background--shapes and light and color 1 Jan 2008 11:03pm Henry from Boston, United StatesI like this shot. The contrast between the sky and ground makes the ground seem to be aglow. Great photoblog. 25 Feb 2008 8:21pm akarui from Kagoshima, JapanThe low light and the very dark sky makes a fantastic contrast. Really good shot. 26 Feb 2008 3:58am dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Stateswow. thanks for clarifying regarding your afghan shots. i do recognise some of the more recent photos you put up in april / may when i first joined! this was a few months ahead of my time. wonderful composition here! the light makes for excllent natural contrast. 21 Jun 2008 3:55pm |
