Scotfot

Having spent a number of years in Afghanistan, I thought I would share a few images taken during my time there of this very interesting country and incredibly friendly and polite people.

The photo is me at the top of the Salang Pass 3,400 m (11,154 feet) up in the Hindu Kush. One of the great Himalayan passes. This was the first winter snows. A week later the pass was blocked by heavy snow!

I'm now back in bonnie Scotland and I can be found photo blogging most days at http://www.flickr.com/photos/scroate/

Photography Equipment

A 3MP Olympus then Canon S60, then S80 and now mostly Nikon D80 and Nikon 18-200mm len. Afghanistan is an very dusty country - its not wise to change lenses too often so the 18-200mm is perfect!
Software: Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Bridge and a whole host of shareware and freeware bits and pieces for images and webby stuff. Just taken the plunge away from Nikon NEF to Adobe .dng format for long term digital preservation - and dislike of sidecar files!
